If I really care about efficiency, then yeah, I want to be on something in the 12-1400 gram range. Having skied really light skis, saving just 100 or so grams per ski just doesn't do it for me. I'm sure Melee or someone who actually builds the skis can actually chime in with the layup/core profile difference.įor me, the big reason that I haven't been on the Sierra Tour in that shorter length is that I still see it as sort of a marginal gain. I'm concerned with the Sierra Tour being flexed considerably lighter than the DWT if it's made for a lighter female skiier (I'm 200lbs in ski gear). That's where I'd hoped the DTW104 would slot in, but if I'm not saving weight other than on my narrower skins, it doesn't pencil out for me. I'm looking for a spring Cascade ski where days are regularly 15+miles and 7000+ vert on 2D snow, often very firm climbs with ski crampons (which I don't have to tell you sucks on a 112 ski), and am really tired of lugging 1750g of DWT112 with me, but also not thrilled with the ~1400g crop of skis that usually fill this slot. Have you put any time in on a Sierra Tour? You mentioned it in your DTW104 review a couple times, and it's been mentioned as a narrower lighter DTW112 alternate in this thread a couple times, but I can't find any real skier input on it other than a Blister First Look and the specs from Moment. (Side note, this imaginary Ghost Train Tour should be really light, like 1600g, because nobody cares how it does in variable snow) But, now, with the advent of the DWT 104, I can 100% imagine getting rid of my 112s, and combining a 184 DWT 104 with realistically a Wildcat Tour in 190, or unrealistically, a 186 Ghost Train Tour as my ultimate touring quiver. When the DWT 112 was announced I couldn't imagine a world in which I didn't have one mounted up as my primary touring ski. So this didn't make it into the review because, like so many of my thoughts, it's relevant to the people in this thread, and basically no one else. If I could get my hands on a Ghost Train Tour to add to the ST and DWT 112, my touring quiver would be complete forever." Others' opinions may vary and ski construction has no doubt improved since then, but I thought it was great ski. "ETA: I loved the Underworld/DWT 106 and skied the hell out of it. Sent from my SM-G988U using TGR Forums mobile app I find the email hilarious personally, just some good-natured ribbing that we deserve. Regarding the marketing, perhaps the implied eye-roll is a little directed at you, but no more so than the rest of us fanboys nitpicking great products while constantly asking for more tweaks (see my GT Tour dream above). If I could get my hands on a Ghost Train Tour to add to the ST and DWT 112, my touring quiver would be complete forever. If 179 works for you, the Sierra Tour is exactly this.ĮTA: I loved the Underworld/DWT 106 and skied the hell out of it. ![]() I'm certain they could have taken a 112 which weighed 1730 in a 184, shaved 10% off the width, which would save slightly less than that in weight so its still stiff and reasonably damp, and had an insanely great ~100 waisted ski with triple camber that weighed in around 1550-1600g. The touring market has also changed a ton since 2018 when they last offered the DWT106. I think they could have done that and hit it out of the park with everybody that isn't a skimo spandex dork that wants something that skis well for touring in mixed conditions. I'm sure it skis really great but I've chatted with multiple people that really wanted the DWT112 in a spring ski package (lighter weight and narrower but most of the same characteristics except pow float). So they come out with a DWT104 which is great, but make it basically a replacement for the failed Commander Tour which means it's porky. All the media copy is pretty snarky about how they made a great ski (DWT`106) and nobody wanted it, and how we're all idiots for wanting a narrower DWT again, but everything I've read about the DWT106 was that it wasn't a great ski at all. I'm a Moment fanboy, but I'm definitely irked by their marketing of the DWT104. My DWT is a cold dead hands ski for sure. ![]() ![]() The Acer Predator Helios 500 follows the standard measures of other 17-inch laptops, with a width of 400mm and a slightly longer depth of 320mm due to the rear extension.
